A wedding band can look almost identical in a product image and completely different on the hand. Width, thickness and profile determine both its presence and its comfort.
WidthNarrow bands feel lighter and more delicate. Wider bands have more presence and usually feel firmer on the finger.
ProfileRounded edges, flatter profiles and comfort-fit interiors each change the way the ring sits and moves throughout the day.
Ring sizeBand width can affect perceived tightness, so sizing should be considered with the final design rather than treated as a separate number.
Before production: confirm the intended width and use a reliable sizing method. String and paper measurements are useful only as rough references.

Rather than starting with “men’s” or “women’s” rings, start with the profile and level of detail you actually want. Any of these directions can be adjusted in width, metal and finish.
Classic band
Clean, enduring and easy to pair. The finish, width and edge profile carry most of the character.
Diamond-set
Adds light and detail without needing a larger silhouette. Stone size and setting style control how refined or bold it feels.
Shaped or contoured
Designed to follow the outline of an engagement ring when a straight band cannot sit where you want it to.
Textured or signature
Brushed, engraved, sculpted or otherwise distinctive. Useful when the band should feel personal even when worn alone.

There is no rule that wedding bands must sit perfectly flush. A deliberate gap can look elegant. The important part is that the spacing, widths and metal choices feel intentional rather than accidental.

Do not leave sizing and pairing until the final step. Those are design decisions, not just production details.

Questions
before you choose
Does my wedding ring need to match my engagement ring?
No. Matching metal, finish or diamond details can create a very unified set, but contrast can work just as well. The stronger test is whether the proportions and spacing look intentional together.
Should a wedding band sit flush with the engagement ring?
Not necessarily. Some engagement settings allow a straight band to sit flush, while others naturally create a gap. A shaped band can reduce the gap if that is the look you prefer.
Do partners need matching wedding rings?
No. The rings can share a metal, finish, engraving or small design detail without being identical. Each ring should still suit the person wearing it.
Will a wider wedding band fit the same as a narrow ring?
It can feel tighter because more of the finger is covered. Confirm sizing with the intended width in mind, especially for substantially wider bands.
