check how the fit feels
Your finger can change slightly through the day, so we want a comfortable, repeatable fit rather than the smallest size you can put on.

Test your preferred size at least twice on the same day, ideally once in the afternoon and again in the evening.

Test at a normal room temperature, not immediately after exercise or unusually hot or cold conditions.

The ring should need a small pull or twist to remove, without excessive force or significant pressure at the base.

If two sizes both seem possible, tell us both sizes and how each one feels. Do not force the smaller size.

Letter-based ring sizing is useful as a reference, but we do not recommend choosing your final size from a chart alone. For Finer production, the confirmed internal diameter in millimetres is the source of truth.

Finger sizes can differ between hands and between neighbouring fingers. Always test where the finished ring will actually be worn.
check at different times
Test the preferred size more than once at a normal temperature so temporary swelling or cold fingers do not determine the result.
band width matters
A wider band generally feels tighter than a slim ring. For wider designs, we use a wider sizing gauge rather than applying a generic size adjustment.

The ring should pass over the knuckle with slight resistance, then sit securely and comfortably at the base of the finger.
Already have a ring that fits?

If you have a ring that fits the exact same finger well, you can measure its inside diameter from inside edge to inside edge. This can be useful for surprise purchases or as a cross-check against the Fit Kit.
We do not recommend string, paper strips or printable charts as the primary method for a made-to-order ring because tension and measuring technique can change the result.
For higher-risk designs
we may recommend a Finer Fit Sample
Very wide bands, full or near-full eternity rings, difficult-to-resize designs, unusual knuckle proportions or an unresolved in-between size may need an extra step. In these cases, we can recommend a simple physical fit sample that reproduces the intended internal diameter, approximate width and inside profile before the final ring enters production.

ring sizing, clarified
Why does Finer prefer a physical sizing kit?+
A rigid sizing ring lets you judge both measurement and feel. Flexible string or paper can be pulled tighter or looser and does not reproduce how a solid ring passes over the knuckle and sits on the finger.
What if I am between two sizes?+
Tell us both sizes and how each one feels. We will consider the finished band width, inside profile and knuckle fit rather than automatically choosing the smaller or larger size. A Fit Sample may be recommended for higher-risk designs.
Does a wider band fit differently?+
Yes. A wider band usually feels tighter because more surface area contacts the finger. Where appropriate, we use a wider sizing gauge so you can judge the fit more realistically.
Should I measure in the morning or evening?+
Rather than relying on one time, test your preferred sizing ring at least twice on the same day, ideally in the afternoon and evening, while your hands are at a normal comfortable temperature.
Can I measure a ring I already own?+
Yes, as a secondary check, provided it fits the same finger and hand well. Measure the inside diameter only, from inside edge to inside edge.
Can every ring be resized later?+
No. Resizing depends on the design, metal, stone setting and amount of adjustment required. Full eternity, highly detailed and structurally complex rings can be particularly restrictive, so accurate sizing before production matters.
