ABOUT OUR GOLD
Recycled gold
Our jewellery is made with care, using solid 14K and 18K recycled gold, and gold vermeil—materials we trust for everyday wear. We focus on simple, thoughtful design and good craftsmanship, so each piece feels natural to wear and easy to come back to. Classic in feel and made from quality metals, these are pieces you can keep close for a long time.
Solid Gold
A timeless precious metal chosen for everyday life. To give you confidence in our quality, every piece is stamped with its gold purity and the hallmark "Finer".
14k gold contains 58.5% pure gold and is chosen for its balance of strength and longevity, making it ideal for everyday wear.
18k gold contains 75% pure gold and is reserved for select made-to-order pieces, where a richer tone and higher gold content are part of the design.
Gold Vermeil
Gold vermeil (vehr-may) is a high-quality form of gold-plated jewellery. It uses a solid sterling silver base and is finished with a substantially thicker layer of gold for lasting colour and wear, while offering a lighter weight and a more accessible cost.
Finer’s gold vermeil pieces feature a rich gold coating with a thickness of 2.5–3 microns, chosen for its soft, refined tone and long-term durability. This is 5× thicker than standard gold-plated jewellery and approximately 100× thicker than flash-plated finishes, allowing Finer’s gold vermeil pieces to outlast conventional alternatives by many years.
100% Recycled
Recycled gold is created by refining existing jewellery, metals, and electronic components, producing material that is chemically identical to newly mined gold. We choose recycled gold to reduce our environmental impact and avoid unnecessary mining. By doing so, we help limit harmful waste, excessive water use, air pollution, and human rights concerns—especially when a single gold ring can generate up to 20 tonnes of toxic mining waste that contaminates surrounding soil and water.
White Gold
White gold jewellery contains the same pure gold content as our yellow gold—the difference lies in the alloy. It is blended with metals such as silver and palladium to achieve its lighter tone, then finished with a rhodium coating for a bright, polished surface. Over time, this coating naturally wears and can be reapplied to restore its finish.
Sustainability
We offset the carbon emissions of every shipment at our own expense, never passing the cost on to our customers. Alongside this, we focus on longevity—using high-quality materials and considered construction so each piece is made to last for years, not seasons. That’s why we work exclusively with trusted materials such as sterling silver, gold vermeil, and solid 14k and 18K gold.
